Son of Operation Chaos Gets Limbaugh and Right

How the Son of Operation Chaos Will Devour Limbaugh and the Right

I want to write about how it is now becoming more probable that Rush Limbaugh's operation Chaos will hurt The Right and Republicans far more than it will hurt The Left and Democrats.  If that happens, what should be done?

I was listening to the Chaos Frat team President, Rush Limbaugh, on Monday, April 28, 2008 when he was interrupted by his faithful sidekick, Snerdly (or whatever the name is).  Snerdly said he had received another call or e-mail from someone else with growing concerns about the possibility of Hillary winning the Democratic Party nomination and ultimately the presidency.  Many others have previously expressed such concerns and there are probably tens of millions of Limbaugh's listeners who share these concerns.  They are not new.

Snerdly said something to the effect that such listeners are concerned that there is a greatly increased likelihood that Hillary is going to win the presidency, and that for many of them slaying the Clinton dragon has been their top priority for years, and that if she survives and becomes president they will blame Limbaugh.  The author considers himself squarely within that camp.

We have previously written in TownHall.com and elsewhere, and on more than one occasion, about this issue.  Beginning with the launching of Operation Chaos by Limbaugh prior to the Texas primary we have covered the history and development of the controversy, including drawing attention to its possible most negative consequences that we consider to be nearly catastrophic should they come to pass.  These writings coincided with direct mailings of them to people like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and Laura Ingram.

But the elixir had already intoxicated that fraternity that, even as I write, continues to pile on Obama and thereby strengthen Hillary.  Limbaugh, and by extension, others thoroughly rejected the sentiments and subsequent arguments beautifully encapsulated in a pithy slogan presented by a lady caller to Limbaugh’s program in the days leading up to the Texas primary.  Her slogan was presented as a counter to his, and to his credit Limbaugh recognized its excellence.  Her slogan in the context of a pre-Texas, very vulnerable, Hillary was, "Take her out and end all doubt."  It was a beautiful counter to Limbaugh's own slogan, "Keep her in it so we can win it," that he used in launching his horribly misguided Operation Chaos. The lady was correct in arguing that Republicans should be voting for Obama in Texas, not for the close-to-dead Hillary, as Limbaugh was encouraging and promoting.  She said that voting for Obama was what she was planning to do and encouraged others to do so as well.  Unfortunately, it had no restraining effect on Limbaugh of the half-my-brain-tied-behind-my-back fame. It’s obviously time he untied it.

We will not rehash here all the aspects contained in our previous discussions on this issue in our earlier blogs on this site.  The purpose here is to point out how we are now at a point where, consistent with the concerns of many on the right, the consequences of operation Chaos are likely to take a turn that is harmful to The Right, not The Left.  Hence, we will have the spectacle of what might be considered the Son of Operation Chaos devouring the right.

The way this will happen is that, just as Snerdly said, many on the right will blame Limbaugh for Hillary's surviving and becoming president.  As noted in my last blog, he has already begun to back and fill on this issue, perhaps, belatedly recognizing his error but not being willing to come right out and fess up or apologize for it.  Even worse, he has taken no corrective actions, in spite of being urged to do so.  Perhaps he has a plan to do so that he has not revealed, because in responding to Snerdly he indicated that he had many options that he has already considered in connection with all the possible ramifications of operation Chaos.  He assures us he’s thoroughly prepared.  One can only hope so.  But, if not, in blaming Limbaugh who is by far the strongest voice on the right in America, many on the right will be disillusioned and disaffected and deenergized at the gross failings of their champions that some will even see as tantamount to betrayal.  The finger-pointing and second-guessing will be profound.  I, for one, will take punitive action against Limbaugh and Hannity and others on the right for saving Hillary when she was all but dead.  And I will encourage others to do likewise.  The professional political right does not have to suffer.  But Limbaugh and his Wolfpack who tore up Obama to save an all-but-dead Hillary should.  My own plan will be to totally boycott Limbaugh and some other talk radio as long as Hillary Clinton shall be President.  I encourage others to devise some sort of meaningful boycott of their own.  Limbaugh was well forewarned and should have known better, as has been strongly argued in my earlier blogs.  He may have launched his misguided Operation Chaos with good intentions but he was thoroughly fool hardily given that Hillary was his beneficiary.  He disregarded the good advice of his listeners.  And if Hillary becomes president he should and will pay a price.  Ironiclly, the Son of Operation Chaos will come to tear at him.
